Acan Brain Coral Keepers Notes
Just arrived after a journey from my supplier. Well packaged with excellent heating pads that kept at a good temperature. A very nice specimen. I will post some progress pictures as it starts to settle in and get comfortable. I have had a green brain previously in my old tank years ago and know that these are very straight forward in the care level required. Good water and decent light with the odd bit of zooplankton should do the trick.
Feeding
My specimen enjoys Brine Shrimp (fortified), Mysis and meaty foods. If you are unfamiliar, it feeds much like a Plate Coral and has a mouth (see the picture). Lights out will usually result in Mesenterial Filaments being extruded from the costae area and not as yet the mouth. I’m no expert but what I have read suggests that (MF) usually extrude from the mouth. I’m going to take some snaps of it feeding and its night time activity so that you can have some clarity. It’s a greedy little monster!

Behaviour
Fast growing and does not take kindly to neighbours encroaching and yet peaceful! Really? Yes. Give it the space it needs and it plumps itself up really well, let it come into contact with another coral and expect some warfare.
