Nano Tank Daily Report
Caught the 2 Nassarius Vibex snails doing the rounds this morning and they look like they have grown already. I’m starting to get a little niggled over the hair algae in the tank. The CUC are not really making a dent in it and I’m going to start performing larger water (20l) changes from tomorrow to ensure the nitrates get down to zero. I’m also going to push the salinity just over 1025 and look to increase the KH to 8.5 – 8.9.
How to remove green algae from a Nano Reef Tank
I saw a tip on another site about pinching out the the tufts of algae in conjunction with salinity, KH increases and water changes. The technique is to get a tub of water (tap water is fine) and every time you pinch out a tuft ensure you take your hand out and dip your fingers in the tub. In doing so you will be washing off the algae and not putting it back in the tank. The principle is to do it on a regular basis until there is nothing and all the while denying a suitable environment until it gives up and completely dies away.
Magnetic glass cleaner arrived at last and I made good use of it to remove the hair algae but of course I’m actually sending the fronds around the tank to land elsewhere.
Still not ruled out the sand sifting starfish
