Nano Tank Daily Report
The protein skimmer started producing what I would describe as classic skim action by this I mean creating a bubble that was big enough to form and travel up the skimmer chamber and ooze out of the top. Until this point it has been producing lots of small bubbles as there was nothing in the tank to skim so what changed?
“Red leg hermit crab found dead in tank shock”. Actually more like “red leg hermit crab murdered in tank”. So who did it and what were the motives? Has to be a blue leg hermit crab as there are no other suspects and as the crab looked like it had been ripped from its home the becomes fairly obvious if still a little surprising and disappointing.
- Clarity: Excellent
- SG: 1025.5
- Temp: 24.8- 26ºC
The V2 heater is not having to do anything as yet as the tank temperature has risen to 26ºC.
I had the idea from my previous experience that maintaining a temperature 0f up to 25˚C was the way to go but I keep on more and more accounts of the mainstream idea these days being that a tank should be kept between 80˚F – 84˚F or the more difficult equivalent of 26.69˚C – 28.89˚C. When I see this it makes me wish we were still using Fahrenheit! If you have read the early pages of the diary you would be aware that I set the tank higher to begin with but dropped the temp after a few days. I wish I had left it where it was as I have been fighting against my room temperature ever since.
