Nano Tank Daily Report: Day 100
Things are looking great. Although I did have a scare on 3 days ago when I saw a white spot on the Flame Hawkfish. Rushed and bought a bottle of Waterlife Cuprazin to begin treatment. Considered buying a support tank to control the infection and prevent other tank mates from being infected. Tried to work out how the Hawkfish had become stressed enough to become infected. Got upset with myself; had I let my guard down? Was I being complacent over the tank health (I no longer test the water apart from SG)? I still change between 20 – 25l of water every week and the longest it’s been left is 9 days between changes. My mind was whirlwind. And then the grain of sand dropped off his scales! Panic over 8)
Life:
To celebrate 100 days of Nano Reef Tank I bought my 2 Black Percula (or False Percula or even Ocellaris, I’m not sure what they really are!) a Bubble Tip Anemone. Whether they will host, who knows? Still, the BTA looks great and when it gets to 12″ across I can use it as justification to buy a bigger tank!
Over the last 100 days the tank has done brilliantly. I seem to have got the balance of fish and rock vs volume of water spot on. The secret of my success would have to be the water and using Red Sea Coral Reef Pro Salt as this stuff is just amazing. It’s also the reason I stopped testing my levels as though regular water changes, mentioned above, I have been able to maintain the water quality. I’m not saying I’m never testing again but I am saying that if you are diligent with your set up, stick to feeding a set amount and are diligent with your water then it can all work well. My evidence is in the picture, take a look at let me know what you think.
